Little Snitch Network Monitor Windows
The Network Monitor window consists of the following components:
Little Snitch includes Network Monitor, which displays detailed data about all incoming and outgoing network traffic. The status icon in the menu bar shows the generalized current network activity, and a window with detailed data pops up when new traffic arrives. Whenever an app attempts to connect to a server on the Internet, Little Snitch shows a connection alert, allowing you to decide whether to allow or deny the connection. No data is transmitted without your consent. Your decision will be.
- Connections — A hierarchical list of connections seen so far. The first level lists only processes. For each of them, you can drill down to the domains it connects to by clicking the disclosure triangle. The third level lists the names of the servers which were contacted. Connection statistics are stored 'forever', up to a configurable limit of total connections.

- Traffic — The Traffic Diagram shows the amount of data up- and downloaded per second, as a diagram over time. For each connection it contains a complete history over the last 60 minutes.

It also includes a Research Assistant, which can often explain the purpose of a process and its connections.

Objective Development has released Little Snitch 4.5, bringing new features and improvements to the network traffic management utility after months of focusing on compatibility with macOS 10.15 Catalina. The update now bundles the integrated Research Assistant's online database with the Little Snitch app, preventing code identity checks from needing an online connection to Objective Development's Internet Access Policy. Little Snitch 4.5 also now shows accesses to the Berkeley Packet Filter (BPF) in the Network Monitor, improves rule creation from within the Network Monitor, improves editing multiple rules at once, fixes detection of the remote endpoint name for Viscosity VPN, resolves a crash that occurred when other programs wrote garbage to the System Configuration, and fixes a bug that misplaced geographic labels on the map.
